Siri for a4 (Iphone 4, Ipad1, Ipod, Ipad2)

Siri for your Iphone 4 – 3gs – ipod and Ipad.

This is an official Siri port for you’re Apple ios device.

Apple has made available the code needed for Siri so that devolopers can get creative with it.  The best tweaks come from theJailbreak community, so lets hope we get to use some good hacks soon.

What you will need.

Jailbroken apple device running on Ios5 or higher.

a certificate that you generated in the last tutorial.  This has to be generated using Siri proxy, and an Iphone 4s.

A Ubuntu box running Siri Proxy.

a wifi network

An internet connection on your Ubuntu box.

Lets get started.

Step 1:

Download Spire from Cydia, by doing a search.

Step 2:

Run Spire, and install Siri on your Apple device. (100mb download)

step 3:

check in settings general to make sure Siri has been installed.

Step 4:

Take the certificate you generated and emailed to yourself in part 1 of this tutorial.

Install it on your Apple Ios 5.0> device just like you did in part 1.

Step 5:

Go to settings on yourApple device, go to Wifi, make sure you are connected to the same network as your Ubuntu box running SiriProxy.

Change dns address from  Gate way to the Ip of your Ubuntu box, just like in part 1.

step 6:

disconnect your Iphone 4s, from the network as both will not work at the same time.

step 7:

On your jailbroken, Siri ported Apple device, activate Siri from settings.

Step 8:

Activate Siri proxy on your Ubuntu box by running (step 16) from part 1.

should say “Siri proxy running on port 443”

Step 9:

Invoke Siri by holding down your home button on your apple device.

Congratulations!! you have Siri on your Ipad, Iphone 4, 3gs, 3, Ipod touch.

Only setback is that you have to have your Ubuntu box on, connected to the internet all thetime you want to use Siri.

Also No siri over 3g unless you can run vpn.

I may cover this in a later article.

status a5 jailbreak

Good news for Iphone 4s and status of a jailbreak

@Pod2g has posted on his twitter that he is one step closer to finding a untethered Jailbreak for the Iphone 4s and the Ipad 2. 

Pod2g, for you who don’t know, is the Iphone hacker who just in the last few weeks was able to create a untethered jailbreak for Iphone 4 and Ipod 4g devices.  He is having some problems with the jailbreak but he says it is looking very promising.

He posted this morning

“hello

here is the news for the status of the Apple A5 chip jailbreak.  untethered fails right now because I am having processer cash issues.  It has something to do with the cortex a9 management. 

This could be fixed fast, or it could take a few weeks, its all just luck from this point on. 

I will report back tomorrow with any updates.”

            So as you can read, we are very close to a Jailbreak for Iphone 4s and Ipad 2 devices, now all we need to do is wait, and hope.

Status of the Ios5.0 and ios 5.01 jailbreak.

Good news for all of you Apple IOS users out there.  Pod2g and P6Ninja have confirmed that they have a working IOS5.0 and IOS5.01 untethered jailbreak.  For all of you users who have been waiting impasiontly , you’re wait is almost over.  P6Ninja has posted on twitter that he has a working Jailbreak, but there is still a few bugs to be ironed out. 

Also for all of you Iphone4s and Ipad users out there, Pod2g has stated on twitter that he finily has his hands on a Iphone4s and he is in the middle of checking if this jailbreak will work on A5 devices also.  He says that so far it is looking good.

Install Siri Plugin – only for users who have Ubuntu experience

By using this guide exactly step by step, you will be able to have Siri Plugin up and running on your local network.

It takes about 45 minutes so be prepared to wait. 

As said in the title, only for users who know how to use Ubuntu.  You don’t need to be a programmer, but you do need to be able to navigate Ubuntu.

So lets get started.

What you need:

Iphone 4s,

Ubuntu with all latest updates,

WLAN,

Email account,

and patients.

All of these are pasted or typed into the command Line terminal.

step 1:

sudo apt-get install dnsmasq ruby build-essential openssl libreadline6 libreadline6-dev curl git-core zlib1g zlib1g-dev libssl-dev libyaml-dev libsqlite3-0 libsqlite3-dev sqlite3 libxml2-dev libxslt-dev autoconf libc6-dev ncurses-dev automake libtool bison subversion
Select ‘y’ to continue.

            Step 2:

sudo nano /etc/dnsmasq.conf

            Now go to the Line, around line 65, that says

#address=/double-click.net/127.0.0.1

            Right under that line type

address=/guzzoni.apple.com/(your_machine's_ip_address)

            You can find your Ip address under connections information.

press control O, and then Save and exit.

            Step 3:

sudo /etc/init.d/dnsmasq restart

            Step 4:

bash < <(curl -s https://raw.github.com/wayneeseguin/rvm/master/binscripts/rvm-installer)

            Step 5:

[[ -s "$HOME/.rvm/scripts/rvm" ]] && . "$HOME/.rvm/scripts/rvm"

            Step 6:

echo '[[ -s "$HOME/.rvm/scripts/rvm" ]] && . "$HOME/.rvm/scripts/rvm" # Load RVM function' >> ~/.bash_profile

            Step 7:

rvm install 1.9.3
This command takes some time to carry out Be serene particularly on the compiling bit

            Step 8:

rvm use 1.9.3 --default

            Step 9

git clone git://github.com/plamoni/SiriProxy.git

            Step 10:

cd SiriProxy
Select 'y' to continue.

            Step 11:

rake install

            Step 12:

mkdir ~/.siriproxy

            Step 13:

cp ./config.example.yml ~/.siriproxy/config.yml

            Step 14:

siriproxy gencerts

            Step 15:

siriproxy bundle

            Step 16:

rvmsudo siriproxy server

            This command starts your Siri Proxy Server. It should say "Starting SiriProxy on port 443.."

            Now it’s the easy part.

Take your Iphone 4s and do the following.

            Step 1:

Go grab the cert you generated in step 14.

It can be found in the following location.

go to your home folder on your Ubuntu, press control H to show hidden files.

~/.siriproxy/ca.pem

            Email your iphone the ca.pem file.

Open the attachment and install the profile cert on your iphone.

            Step 2:

Go to your WI-Fi settings on your Phone Settings, and connect to your network,

change the DNS Ip to your Ubuntu’s Ip address.

Your internet and everything else will work fine as long as your Ubuntu is connected to your network and the internet.

Step 3:

Try it out for yourself. Enable siri on your Iphone and say “Test SIRI PROXY”

your Phone should say, Siri Proxy is running.

You can also sea all of the information going from and to your Iphone in the terminal window.

We have Siri Proxy installed now! Now the only thing to do is to install some plugins.

Ios 5 Cydia tweaks

hey everyone,

seeing how as the new A5 jailbreak is out, everyone is asking, what the best tweaks are.

I have created this list of the best Tweaks from Cydia that are supported on IOS5, and A5(iphone4s)(ipad2)

ActionMenu

provides more options in the pop up menu when you hold your finger over text.

actions include (favorites, history, locate, tweat, lookup, define, coppyAll, call. more can be download from cydia.

ActionList, make your reading list better. gives following options:

Tweat, open webpage, share to facebook, save for offline reading.

ActiveAccess for activator

control accessibility features using Activator commands.

Voiceover, Zoom, White on black, etc.

Activator, allows you to customize what butten presses do, as well as gestures.

Very extencive list of commands, from holding power button, to pinch on springboard. download and play around with it.

can easily open apps, enable bluetooth/3g/wifi/location.

appSwitcherRinger, turns volume slider into a brightness slider on switcher.

control brightness from switcher.

battery fix IOS5

Fixes problems with battery caused by IOS5. battery will last much longer.

CallBar, stops incoming calls from taking up the entire screen.

continue doing what you were doing and iether choose to answer or decline call by swiping on status bar.

CYtask, tired of Cydia closing when you get a call, and loosing the cued list?

download this to enable Cydia backgrounding.

Dreamboard, take control of your Springboard,

a more advanced version of winterboard, but allows you to have working widgets and gives you a GUI overlay.

example. android 2.1 with working weather, twitter, and widgets.

Fulldrop, a full dropbox experience

Allows you to open documents songs videos within the app without needing to have any other programs installed.

Example click a text file, and it opens right within the app, no need for planetext for Dropbox.

Galaxy S II theme for Dreamboard.

Complete Galaxy S II theme, with working widgets app drawer, twitter and facebook/weather.

IFile, a file browser for Iphone and Ipad.

Runs under "ROOT" so allows you to copy and paste files directly into the directory you need.

infinite tweat, allows you to tweat longer than just 140chars.

when you get over 140, it creates a twitLonger tweat.

IPlay App streme movies and tv shows.

Has all the newest movies and tv shows, watch directly on your device. no downloading needed.

PandoraSkip, allows to get rid of all the adds, and the skip limit on Pandora app.

passwordpilot, save your appstore password so you never have to type it in again.

Save password in settings.

phone gv extension, make gv calls directly from phone app.

resupported 4, allows you to use older cables to streme video to your tv.

apple blocks you from using old cables even though there is no reason why they shouldn't work.

this was just a short list of working Tweaks.

Introduction to using VoiceOver on Iphone

My objective in these posts is to educate and inform any blind or low vision users of cellphones about what the Apple ecosystem has to offer.

The first topic I will cover is going to be VoiceOver(VO) from this point on.

When you first get an iphone into your hands, u need to make sure itis powered on. You do this by holding the phone facing you with the round button facing you and at the middle front. Feel for a button sticking out of the top right edge. hold this down.
iether wait until you sea the screen turn on with the lock screen, or wait a minute or two and you should be ready to go.

now press the round button(Home button) from this point on,
press it fast three times. Now you should hear VoiceOver on"
basic list of navagation commands.

with VO on, you feel around until you find the item you want to select, once you have found it, dubble tap anywhere on the screen to enable/choose the item.

other than feel and dubble tap you have a few more commands also for navagation.
you can swipe you finger from left to right to move from one item to the next, items are chosen left to right top down.
you swipe left to go to the item before.

you can do a three finger swipe, by placing three fingers on the screen and iether swipping down or up to move up and down in a list view.

now that the basics of navagation are covered, its time to activate your iphone.

Click the unlock slider and dubble tap to unlock the screen.
feel around until you get a hang of navagation. continue through the setup screens using your apple id or by seting up as an ew phone.
once the phone is activated and springboard icons are showing, click on settings icon by navagating around for it on the first page.
once you have found this dubble tap on it.
swipe and tap until you get to general, dubbletap that, and find siri, dubbletap that and find the enable switch and turn siri on by dubbletapping the switch.

now you are able to hold the home button down and use Siri, but more importantly you are able to use voice dictation to write text, in iether sms, emails, on the web, or anywhere there is a text field.

my next article will go a bit more in depth on basic usage, basic setup for icloud for backup purposes, setting up imessage and Facetime to comunicate with anyone around the world who has an Apple device.
